The new Mummy trailer is packed with ancient evil that’s unleashing a load of rats and bats on the city, with a plane crash, building explosions and of course a badass underwater battle.
The New Trailer is Badass
Tom Cruise has done pretty much everything there is to do for an actor. He’s outrun evil lawyers and vampires alike. But hey, this is going to be the first time fans see him doing something different: battling an ancient mummy.
Universal Pictures released the second trailer for the movie The Mummy on Sunday. And it’s been getting a lot of hype for the story and the more grittier feel than the previous Mummy movies had.
According the the movie’s plot summary, the story for the new movie goes something like this: “The ancient princess Ahmanet (played by Sofia Boutella) is imprisoned in a tomb deep beneath the desert when her destiny was stolen from her, but she is brought back to the world in present day, and she brings with her a power so malevolent that the terror goes beyond human laws and comprehension.”
And it all rests in the shoulders of Nick Morton (Tom Cruise, if you didn’t already guess it) to stop her evil.
The trailer shows how Cruise finds the tomb after an explosion blows the a whole into the desert and reveals a cavern. The rest of the film is him running for his life, with the rest of London, it seems.
If you unleash an ancient mummy like an idiot, of course his craps going to happen.
The cast also has Annabelle Wallis (King Arthur), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).
The Mummy comes in first for Universal Monsters Universe collection of films to a get new reboot. Which means if this does well at the box office, we’re sure to see reboots of other monster movies like Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Invisible Man, the Wolf Man and also The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
The Mummy is due in theaters in the June 9, 2017.
